Weekend Update

Yes, I know I'm a little early, but I'm headed off to New Jersey right now with four kiddos from work for a Northeast Regional Challenge against 20 or so other chapters everywhere from Massachusetts to Virginia!
So, as you can imagine, much of my weekend was spent packing and getting ready for the trip.  The kids came out to our Learning Center on Friday, and we played some golf [in the rain].  You might have seen my video of them... aka my first Instagram video attempt. I don't know how to link them into blog posts yet, so here's the link haha.  As you can see, there are a million baby frogs on our course! So cute!
This weekend, Mike and I did have time to get some golf in, hang out in the yard, and celebrate his sister's birthday - yay!
tons of strawberry shortcake!

Can we talk about how tall my lilies are?!?

Have a great rest of your weekend, everyone!

My New 'Do!

Alright, here it is!  On Monday, I told y'all that I cut off 14 inches of my hair for an amazing charity, Locks of Love.  It was my third time doing it, and because I'm a just-out-of-college kid and don't have much money, I do this to try and give back.  Heck, I don't need super long hair!  Why not share with kids who need it more than me.
All day Monday, my sister sent me HYSTERICAL selfies trying to make me send her a hair pic... except it backfired and I got to laugh all day at her... and all she got was a mid-afternoon teaser.  Yes, in the end, I did send a full hair pic, but she also had her craziness exposed for all of IG to see.
Welp, here's the moment of truth.  Let me know what you think :)  I sure know being in the sun 8 hours a day for camp over the next 7 weeks is surely going to be a lot cooler!
On Saturday, I might have made my intern take super cheesy photos of me and Mike because this could be the last time there are ever photos of me with my hair this long... how weird is that?

Cara Box: Take Me To The Fair

I had a great time getting to know my Cara Box partners this month!  I loved shopping for Ann Marie this month [especially after we learned quickly that we share a love for deep fried Oreos - and what a perfect fair food!].  I also was paired with Sheri, who sent to me.  She is a great lady who just celebrated a birthday and anniversary!

Here is what I received was spoiled with:
snacks: animal crackers, fruit snacks, cracker jacks, cotton candy, chocolate; a snack caddy; cupcake wrappers; fun straws; cotton candy cookie mix; kitchen gloves; balloons; a candle, perfume, and hand sanitizer from Bath and Body Works

Come on, you know when a Cara Box comes wrapped like this, it's going to be good!

How cute is all of this? I CANNOT WAIT to burn the Summer Boardwalk candle!

Roxy is obsessed with the balloons!

Of course, I HAD to try out the cotton candy cookies last night! And, yes, the only non-Christmas cookie cutter I have is a hippo :)

THANK YOU SO MUCH, SHERI! You definitely did your homework on this one!!!
Here's a little sneak peek of what I sent Ann Marie, head over to Royalty Sparkles and check everything out :)

PS, new hairdo photos coming tomorrow - promise!!!

Long Hair... See Ya!

Welp, last night I did it - I chopped off 14 inches of my hair for Locks of Love.  If you haven't heard of Locks of Love before, you definitely should visit their website; they are fantastic and make hair pieces for kids living with cancer, alopecia, and other disorders.  This is the third time I've donated 10+ inches of hair [the first time was in 8th grade and the second was in college].  I'm sorry, I don't have a good pic of my new hair yet, but I promise you, it is short.

Roxy and I had some last long hair fun yesterday morning, and of course a work selfie before my appointment!

More tomorrow!

Blog Friends Rock!

Like seriously!
What would I do without them?  Well, I can at least tell you that my last two weeks definitely would have been different.

To start off, I can tell you I would have eaten less sweets.  A few weeks back, I made Kristin's cake batter rice krispy treats, so when I saw that she created brownie batter treats, I knew they would be a perfect addition to our DMB tailgate last weekend.

This past weekend, Amanda [who just made the jump to Blogger yaaayyy] and I took a beach trip down to my home town.  We've had a few blates before, one even included me calling her up the night before a race to come run Color Me Rad with me!  She's the best, and even though she is one of my bloggy friends, she is definitely an awesome IRL friend as well :)

Ever since Heather gave me a Liebster way back when, she has been one of my go-to girls.  We are going to finally meet up when we both do Run Disney's Wine and Dine Half Marathon in November!! Well, she introduced me to this amazing Chicken and Doritos casserole a while back, and I finally made it last week.  You won't be disappointed with this one!
[I even whipped out the Mickey Mouse utensils for this one ;) ]
Ingredients:
- 1 lb raw chicken breast or tenders
- 1 bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos
- 1 can Rotel tomatoes
- 1 pound Velveeta cheese
- 1 can Campbell's Cream of Chicken soup
- 1 can Campbell's Cream of Celery soup

Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Cut chicken into preferred size and saute in a skillet until no longer pink.
- In a medium pot, combine Rotel, Velveeta, and soups.  Cook on medium until Velveeta is melted.
- Layer whole Dorito chips on the bottom of a 9x13 pan.
- Put chicken on top of chips and sauce on top of chicken.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
- Take out of the oven and sprinkle crushed Doritos on top.  Bake for another 5 minutes.
- Let rest out of oven for a few minutes outside of the oven before serving.
My favorite part of Heather's recipe was her suggestion to upsize to a family size bag of Doritos.  Her little sisters love to dip extra chips in the casserole sauce.  That got me thinking that next time I make this, I think I'm going to make it as a dip [like buffalo chicken dip] by skipping the bottom Doritos and shredding the chicken.  Then I can dip chips in ALL of it!

It was my boss's birthday last week, so I made Jen's black forest cupcakes.  Seriously, they were amazing, and who would have believe that each one had less than 175 calories?!?  I also guest posted for her yesterday, so check that out if you didn't already!

After writing about receiving Witch Hazel wipes from Heather, Allison said that she also had some from her VoxBox that she won't use.  Holy moly, I won't have to buy face wipes for a looooong time!

To say thank you to all of these wonderful people, and all you other amazing people I love in blog land, don't forget to enter my 250 reader giveaway!

Check her out!

Today I'm guest posting for Jen while she's on vacation!  Check out her blog and find some fun [and inexpensive] ways to enjoy a great summer stay-cation!

It's also been 359 days and it's time for another Travelers Championship!  The PGA TOUR comes to town every year [literally where I work], so I might be a bit absent this week, working and enjoying the event.  I'm sorry in advance!

Oh, and stop back tomorrow for some more photos like this from my weekend.

Fears/Pet Peeves and Father's Day [no, not together!]

1. What is your biggest driving pet peeve?  Well, I wrote a post a while back about pet peeves with a bunch of them [mostly driving related], so check that out... I would have to say my biggest one in that list is the parking in fire lanes.  [On an unrelated note, another pet peeve is that all of my Pinterest links are disappearing (see: post on pet peeves). What's up with that?]

2. Biggest Blogging pet peeve?  Hmmm, there/their/they're, to/too/two, then/than, lose/loose.  Sorry, it just bugs me.

3. Biggest general pet peeve? When people don't do their share of something

4. What is your most irrational fear?  Edges and getting thrown off of them... like when I went up the Eiffel Tower the first time, I was convinced someone would just pick me up and toss me over the edge.  I'm great in airplanes and rides with seatbelts, but edges = terrifying.
This was my first time up in 2009... I kind of look terrified

This is the elevator up, come on, you know that looks scary!

But by 2010, I was a pro!

Gosh, I miss this place!

5. 3 celebrities you’d want to have dinner with?  John Krasinski, Tina Fey, and Lauren Graham.  Preferably all together, please.

Sunday Social

One more thing - Happy Father's Day to the most supportive, kindest, funniest, goofiest, and fun dad in the world.  Oh, and also the person who I am most alike in the entire world... we're both big kids!
We love Disney!  This is us with Mr. Smee 18 years apart.
I was in kindergarten on the left and one the right was our trip this winter to the Tinker Bell Half Marathon.  He ran the Neverland 5k with me :)
