Christmas Wish List

Happy Friday, friends!  I hope everyone is full into the holiday swing of things.  Decorating our home and spending time with friends (another gift swap party tonight!) has definitely taken over our lives, and this little blog has been taking the hit - haha.  I promise, though, I have a few posts up my sleeve to share over the next couple of weeks with delicious recipes and photos to share from around our home and around downtown Charleston.  

For now, I thought I would start December with one of my favorite things to read on fellow bloggers' pages: wish lists.  
I love seeing what other ladies are asking Santa for this year, and honestly, I get a lot of my own ideas from them.  I tried to mix some practical things like a new crossbody (I've been using the same one for 4+ years) and new makeup brushes (we won't talk about the last time I went shopping in that department...) with some splurges like a Capri Blue candle or (even more) nail polish.

30th Birthday Wish List

Happy Friday, friends!  My big 3-0 is in less than a week, and since it's such a special one, why not come up with a list of things I'm loving right now!
Gummy bears are the way to my heart, and this Sugarfina birthday set looks so cute!!  I've always wanted to try their champagne gummies, and the birthday cake caramels in the set are calling my name!

Rewined are absolutely my favorite candles, and it's just about time for this one to come back into stock for fall.  For those who don't know, Rewined is based here in Charleston and not only makes candles in old wine bottles but also the scents to match.  This time of year, I love their spiked cider.  I'm linking to one I found in stock online for all of you non-locals, but if you are local, you can shop for them in the City Market or Candlefish (for much cheaper)!

I've been wanting a smart watch forever, and rose gold is my favorite!  I seriously know nothing about these watches, so if anyone has a favorite, please let me know.  I'm looking for something that can do heart rate and track my mileage when running as well as daily steps.  Right now, I am lookingat the Galaxy watch or this Fitbit

Speaking of running, Nike's newest running collection is great.  Everything is so light and comfortable!  I have this bra and this bra already as well as this tank in every color I can find.  Right now on my radar is this sports bra and these comfy jogging pants

I am obsessed with this Holbrook style of sunglasses.  I never like sunglasses that let in peripheral light, and these wrap around just enough to be stylish and comfortable.  This blue and iridium lens combo is awesome!

I need something pretty and rose gold to go with my watch, right?!  I love long pendant necklaces, and I definitely need a new bag.  I make Mike carry around all of  my stuff when we go out. 

Last, but not least, I am obsessed with these sneakers.  I have mint (on sale for $30 right now), gray, and pink.  They wash so easily, but I would also love this blue and maroon, too!

Mint Green for St. Patrick's Day

What's your favorite color to wear?  I am not much of a bright lime or kelly green fan - I'm more about the dark greens like olive or pastel greens like mint.  But, since it's St. Patrick's Day month (yes, I'm Irish, it gets a whole month - haha), I need to get a little more green in my life!  I decided to round up some of my current favorite mint pieces.  Plus, March is when spring officially begins, and I love those light springy colors!
After visiting some of my favorite sites, I learned that the definition of "mint" has broadened quite a bit.  Mint is green right?  Nope.  Mint has turned into anything lightish blue-green-gray.  Maybe the online version of colors are different than in person?  Moral of the story: I cannot guarantee that all of these will be your perfect alternative for St. Paddy's, but I thought they were pretty!

Red and Pink for Valentine's Day

Is anyone else in love with both pink and red this time of year?  To be honest, I don't wear a lot of red, but if I do, it's between Christmas and Valentine's Day.  As for pink: any day, any time, anywhere, but especially looking ahead to spring.

Christmas Wish List

Happy Wednesday!  This is always one of my favorite posts to put together, it's my twenty-first century letter to Santa.  There is definitely emphasis on the word wish in this list.  Some of these items are absolute wishes, but that's the fun part of making a list - just like when I asked for a pony when I was little!

Let's start with my wishes - first those headphones.  On Black Friday, we were at Best Buy getting new phones, and I wandered over to the audio section and tried on these pretty white headphones.  The store was so loud, but as soon as I put them on, it was silent.  They have a hefty price tag, but again, that's why we call it a wish list - haha!

My other wishes include prints by the amazing Teil Duncan here in Charleston.  The colors of the Sullivan's Island beach would be perfect for our living room, and the picnic blanket and oranges match our kitchen so well.

Now for more useful gifts; I am in desperate need of a new camera strap.  I want a long one that I can wear across my body, and I love how thin this Etsy shop's styles are.  I also love that hat and vest.  I don't wear winter jackets very much anymore in South Carolina, but vests are so perfect for the weather down here.  While it might not look like a useful gift, I have been wearing the same cocktail dress to work events for like two years, and I would love a new look.  The sweater and midi skirt look is so pretty, and I love the colors on this skirt from Nordstrom.

And lastly, the pretty things: who doesn't love some new jewelry and shiny sneakers?!

Holiday Gift Guide: Stocking Stuffers

Happy December!  I can't wait to share gift ideas with y'all, leading up to Christmas, and I thought I'd start with my favorite: stockings.  Opening stocking are my favorite part of every Christmas morning.  In my family, we always opened them first, and in Mike's they were last.  I love the gifts in stockings because they're all so heartfelt and personal.  It's a mix of things you need, things you need, and always an orange at the bottom.  (We've continued Mike's childhood tradition with that one!)  I've rounded up a few gifts that would be perfect in any stocking this Christmas and linked to all of the products below:

Cozy for Fall

Dear autumn, welcome to the South!  It's been beautiful this week, finally turning the A/C off in favor of open windows and wearing oversize hoodies to kickball games.  This was always my favorite time of year in New England, but I like that this is close to as cold as it'll get in the South.  Best of both worlds!  We started to take down some of our fall clothes boxes this week, and of course, it's also the best excuse to go shopping.  I love being comfortable when it's chilly out, and each of these pieces look so soft and perfectly shaded for fall!

Is there anything better than that soft inside of a hoodie before you wash it for the first time?  I have far too many hoodies, but I love the blush color of that Adidas one.  Those leggings and the boots are lined, too.  Uggs were some of my favorite shoes in Connecticut, and I love these new boots because they're warm and waterproof.

Also, this meme makes me laugh every time and is so true!  As you can see, most of these pieces are flowy - my favorite.  And if all else fails, I'll just wear that pajama jumpsuit all fall and winter and be 100% happy!

Wear Your Lilly Day!

Happy National Wear Your Lilly Day!  Who else is covered in their favorite bright summery patterns today?  I have to admit, I have done barely any Lilly shopping in 2017, but I have been lusting after some of this year's beautiful patterns.  I am just in love with all of the pineapple and ocean side goodness this year and have rounded up some of my favorites below.

I think my favorite right now are those Luxletic leggings in the reinvented navy Lobstah Roll.  This print is so vibrant!  As for favorite pattern, I love Oh Shello.  It looks awesome in this scalloped crop top and skirt set, but I'm not quite sure I could pull it off - haha.  I'll stick to that gorgeous dress I linked to above!  If you want even more fun, here's a fun Lilly-inspired wedding post I put together last year!

Lust List

Every once in a while, you just see that item (so far out of your price range) that you would just love to have.  For me, there's a full folder on my phone of Instagram, boutique, and blog post screen shots of these (insert heart-eye emoji).  So much so that I thought would be a perfect round-up for this spring Friday.  
1. I have been in love with Mason Hosker since Charleston Fashion Week, and I just need somewhere fancy to wear this Raiah Hi-Lo dress to.  The design reminds me of a Charleston sunset, and of course... pockets!

2. Everytime Chassity over at Look Linger Love puts up a post filled with outfit inspiration, I am in love.  Recently, she did one around blue dresses.  Even though this Mara Hoffman dress only has a little blue, it just screams summer to me.  Oh yeah, and pockets.

3. Changing directions just a tiny bit here, but I have been dreaming of an espresso machine for so long.  This one from Bloomgdale's looks so compact, and the stainless color would be great in our kitchen.  It'd pay for itself eventually in what I'd save at Starbucks... right?

4. I have been a fan of Gray Malin for so long.  His perfectly curated pieces from the Amalfi Coast and Rio are so perfect, but when I saw his Hawaii collection, I was more in love than ever since it reminded me of our trip this past winter.

5. Last but not least, my ultimate lust: Tropicana Embellished Suede Sandals.  The beading, the tassels, the color - obsessed.  I win the lottery and these little ladies are mine!

Spring Porch Refresh

Happy Spring!  It seems like the East Coast has been a little confused as to seasons this month, but here's to hoping it warms back up very soon!  To me, spring means time outdoors.  What I love most about our home are all of the different patio spaces.  On the front of our house, we have a Charleston-style double porch.  The top porch was the first "room" we decorated when we moved in, and you can read about what pieces we used here.  In the first floor space, we hung the perfect porch swing, and you can read that full DIY from last week here.
What's funny is that the area where we spend the most outdoor time, our screen porch/breezeway off the living room, is the one that we have yet to really decorate.  The bugs in Charleston can be brutal, plus, we love that the cats can hang out with us with the screen.  At least we have more furniture than we did a few weeks after we moved in, but it's really still a mix-match of furniture we used at our house in Connecticut, IKEA plants I'm trying my hardest not to kill, and a broken rocking chair we found on the side of the road (that I keep swearing I'll fix!).
I finally have some true inspiration for what's also one of our main party spaces.  While I love that the other porches are relaxing, this breezeway will be the perfect accompaniment for grilling, lawn games, and parties after dark.
Let's start with the colors.  Our house is painted Summer Breeze by Valspar, so I thought some pastels, especially pinks and corals would be a great compliment.  How adorable is this wooden "hello" that I found on Etsy to hang on the wall?  I love that it's unfinished so I can choose any color to paint it.  Right now, I'm loving this Coral Peach, also from Valspar.

To add even more color, I definitely want flowers for this space.  Begonias and impatiens are perfect for this shady area since they thrive with very little sun, and I love this planter ladder from IKEA.

Like I mentioned, I already have a bistro set from a few years ago (here's a similar one from Target), so we'll be keeping that for sure and just be adding a few accents.  We chose this set because it doesn't have cushions and has definitely held up over time.  An outdoor rug to put under it, and new pillows to replace our faded ones will be perfect.  Here, here, and here are the three I chose - and they're all at a great price!

Last, but not least, a couple of things for entertaining: string lights for partying into the night and a functional (and movable) beverage cooler.

Christmas Wish List

Happy Monday, y'all!  Did everyone have a great weekend?  We had a bunch of friends over for a fantastic brunch party, went to an ugly sweater/karaoke party, and, of course, got some golf in while the weather was nice.  I've been finishing up my Christmas shopping over the last week, too, and I've shamelessly been adding to a little wish list for myself.  Every Christmas, I love seeing what other bloggers are lusting after, and after a few ideas from their lists and some window shopping on my own, I've put together my own dream list with a little from every category of my life:

Birthday Wish List

The last weekend of summer - please say it isn't so!  Luckily, it will still feel like summer for at least a few more weeks here in Charleston.  I feel like this year is flying by, and soon it will be October (aka my birthday month)!  I still think I say I'm 26 when people ask my age.  28, Meg, you're a couple weeks away from being 28.  I am terrified to say that this will mean that I'm officially in my late 20s. OY.  

I always like creating little wish lists, usually with items that are just that, WISHES... aka completely out of my budget.  Honestly, I feel like my list hasn't changed a whole lot from last year... my collage-making skills just might have gotten a little better ;)
First and foremost, I think it's pretty obvious that I'm looking for things for our home. When we yell at the tv watch football, the whole first floor echoes - haha!  We haven't hung anything on the walls yet, and I would really love to get some local photography for our living room.  I first found that amazing three-panel Angel Oak by Mike Nocher Photography at the City Market, and I thought we had made our decision...until we went to the Farmer's Market last weekend and discovered a vendor whose work we had never seen before: Jason Baxley.  He does those 360 degree panoramas, and I have never seen anything like them before.  How cool would it be to hang four: sunrise, mid-day, sunset, and night from different places around the city on one wall?

I also want to make the living room even more cozy as fall approaches.  I've always been intrigued by blanket ladders, and I love that navy tassel throw to put on it!  Add a couple more throw pillows, preferably a pineapple and one from Kate Spade, and I'm ready to watch ALL THE FOOTBALL.

Style-wise, I'd love a Lilly dress to transition to fall, and I think it's pretty obvious that I'm loving everything navy right about now.  That rose gold Kendra Scott necklace would look great with it, and a pretty camera strap (so I'm more likely to bring my camera on adventures) would be so fun!  Even though those striped flats might not exactly match, at least they're still navy!

Last but not least, the old standbys: Starbucks gift cards and Essie.  I think I might be one of the last blogger holdouts on the Essie "gel," but especially with darker colors like Twill Seeker and Wrap Party 420, I'd love to give it a try.  Why is it that dark, bold colors always seem to chip sooner and look awful after two days?! Haha!

Second Anniversary Gifts: Cotton

I can't believe that in just under a month, Mike and I will be married for two years!  It's been a crazy year and so rewarding.  We bought our Charleston home, traveled to new places, and lost a total of 65 pounds together.  Obviously, it's time to start thinking about shopping for gifts!  Last year, we stuck to the traditional paper and gifted each other tickets to a Philadelphia Eagles game in Atlanta - the opening Monday Night game against the Falcons.  This year, the traditional gift is "cotton."
Living in the South, cotton is everywhere, so it's the perfect gift inspiration!  I've rounded up 10 gift ideas for him and her that your spouse would love (or at least I'd love) to receive:
1 ||| I love these cotton wreaths from local South Carolina artists.  I first saw them around Christmas in gift shops but love the way they look throughout the year outside our neighbors' homes.

2 ||| I am obsessed with Cat Studio products.  They make beautiful pillows, glasses, and tea towels with amazingly intricate designs representing cities, states, national parks, and colleges.  This Charleston pillow has been on my wish list forever!

3 ||| If you're like us and are decorating, a fancy accent chair that you might not normally buy could be a great gift!

4 ||| With our anniversary in September coinciding with the start of football season, an NFL or college-themed gift like this Eagles shirt would be perfect.  Pack it with some tickets to a game, and your significant other will be one happy camper!

5 ||| Matching aprons for y'all who enjoy spending time together in the kitchen.

6 ||| How adorable is this hammock?!  And it has tassels!

7 ||| Two years in, maybe those sheets from your wedding registry could be replaced?  I love the pattern of these Egyptian cotton ones!

8 ||| Monogram this LL Bean tote, pack it with a picnic, and enjoy an afternoon together!

9 ||| Speaking of monograms, I love the font on these turkish towels.  They come in six different colors, too.

10 ||| Last, but not least, my favorite: a cotton candy maker!  Yes, I know I stretched this one a bit, but if your significant other has a sweet tooth, this would be such a fun gift!

Red, White, and a Few Favorites

Y'all, I cannot believe that Fourth of July weekend will be starting this time next week!  I need to get out all my red, white, and blue, and start thinking of my most festive drink recipe - any ideas?  I decided to throw together a few favorite items that I've been loving lately as well as a bunch that I've been eyeing recently and would just so happen to be perfect colors for the Independence Day holiday!

I have been wanting one of those over-sized pool floats that are all the rage for so long!! I've always been partial to the pineapple inner tube or fruit koozie set, but that firecracker popsicle is so perfectly patriotic!  Also, these bathing suits for him and her?  I love the cut on the ladies' suit, and Mike would totally wear those pineapples since the color and pattern are fairly discrete :)

On dry land, these Chuck Taylors (oh my gosh, the elastic heels are everything for the summer!!) and a cute romper have been my go-to so far this summer.  The back of the white one I'm wishing for is so fantastic - check it out, and it would be so fun to dress it down for a picnic or dress it up for a fireworks party with those Southern Proper flats, star earrings, or bangle!

...Bring May Flowers

Happy May, everyone!!  The last stretch in April was just so busy: I attended The Southern C Summit last week (and have a full week of recaps going up next week - stay tuned) and Mike's dad is in South Carolina this week, so you know we are walking and eating our faces off with him and his girlfriend as we show them everything Charleston has to offer!  While I spend some time getting back into the swing of blogland, I thought I'd share part 2 of my favorites right now.  You can see my "April Showers" part one by clicking here.

Obviously, I had to share every floral print I could find.  I promised myself that I would buy a romper this year (it's even on my summer bucket list, if I don't buy one before then - haha), and Mike and I have that floral IKEA duvet on our bed.  I love it because it's perfect for every month of the year, and I just trade out the solid-color sheets (yellow, cranberry, sage green) each season.  I went to another Candlefish class on Friday and made a fantastic floraly scent to burn all spring and summer - I love their whole collection of springtime florals.  My goal for our new house is also to actually grow a garden, and how cute would it be to start with succulents - and a hedgehog?!

Easter Basket Ideas for Her

I love the years when Easter falls in March.  Living in New England, the holiday always meant the real start of spring with all of the flowers and pretty dresses.  Now, in South Carolina, it's already been up to 80 degrees (as it will be today!), but I still enjoy decorating our home and making it feel a little more spring-y.  I know Easter is usually all about Easter egg hunts and the Easter Bunny for the kids, but we all love a good Easter basket, right?!  I've rounded up some of my current spring favorites, perfect for your own "adult" Easter basket:
How pretty is the pattern on this opal marble bottle?!  I absolutely love my S'well bottle, and it really does keep drinks as hot or cold as long as it claims to.  I feel like I have so many winter scarves, but nothing thin enough to wear through March and April when I still like to layer a bit.  With the great price of this printed option, I want one in every color and pattern!  Minted has the cutest notebook designs right now, and I love that they can all be personalized for free with your name.  As you can see, I'm all about the spring patterns, and this one on a phone case from Rifle Paper Co is wonderful!  Essie nail polish - totally the perfect size for an Easter basket.  The colors in this spring nail polish are great, but if you're more about the bright colors, they also have a resort colors set this season.  Makeup brushes and sunnies, no explanation needed!  Do you have a pom key chain yet?  Mine makes it so easy to find my keys in my bag!  Obviously, I had to go for a few clothing options, too, since I'm dreaming of tank tops and shorts.  This lace top would go so well with these Lilly shorts.  I first saw this style on Chesson's blog and absolutely love them.  Last but not least, the Easter basket to put it all in.  This boat tote is the right size for a day at the beach or by the pool!

Keeping My Resolutions

Going along with the fun giveaway I am hosting this week (click here to enter!), I thought it would be fun to share some of the items that I'm loving and that I have on my wishlist to keep my own 2016 resolutions on track.  My goals all pretty much have to do with improving and feeling better about myself, and you can see my full post of resolutions here.

Eat healthier: I cannot wait to get this KitchenAid Spiralizer.  I've been looking for a spiralizer for a long time, and now that there's an attachment for the KitchenAid, I know this is the one I want.  In addition to carbs, one of my biggest weaknesses is snacking.  I love me a good mid-afternoon or late night snack.  I found Graze subscription box, which is only $12 for 8 healthy snacks.  I cannot wait to try it!

Run. Run. Run: I've worn Nike Dual Fusion sneakers for at least 5 years, and I have the Run 2 model in pink and black right now.  I love these sneakers: they fit my feet so well and last forever.  I'm thinking my next pair will be those gray and lavender Run 3s.  Inside those shoes, I'm all about compression socks.  I have about 10 pairs of these Smartwool PhD Outdoor Light Socks.  If you don't like these heavier socks, they have tons of other lighter models, too. As for clothes, I'm a sports bra junkie.  VS Sport has come out with some fantastic styles in the last few months, and I love them all: LightweightAngel, and Incredible.

Wear makeup everyday: Somehow I've actually accomplished this so far this year.  These three products are always on my face, in addition to the occasional eyeliner or lip gloss: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind, Covergirl Instant Cheekbones, and Maybelline's The Rocket.

Better blog photography: So far, I am loving my Canon - EF 50 mm prime lens.  It's been so much fun to play around with, and understanding aperture, shutter speed, and film speed is so much easier without the added variable of zoom.  Next, I'm trying to decide between the Canon - EF 35 mm prime lens or the far less expensive Canon - EF-S 24 mm prime lens.  For my T1i, these are virtually the same lens because of the 1.6 crop factor of EF-S lenses, but if I ever purchased a full-frame 5D or 6D, the 24 mm would not be compatible.  After that, it's about finding an image stabilizing zoom lens to replace mine that came from an old film Canon and was pre-image stabilization.

Listen more: I can't exactly say what physical things are helping me listen better, but Mike and I are doing this whole photography thing together, so we have been working on communication as we learn there!
