hey, i didn't know that was by them!?!

story of my night, right there.  last night, mike and i went to a doobie brothers and chicago concert. it was amazing!  however, i didn't realize before i got there how many of the awesome oldies songs i like are by the doobie brothers; hence why those words were uttered by me multiple times throughout the night.

growing up, i never listened to the current music.  my parents were all about the oldies, so i knew every word to every song, but as a 6 year old, i obviously didn't know the artists.  i didn't listen to popular music until third grade, when i was introduced to my first pop love - the spice girls.

obviously, i had a great time.  i love oldies concerts!  my first ever concert when i was 5 was crosby, stills & nash, and since then, over the years i have seen the beach boys, elton john, billy joel, but the best was billy joel and elton john together - hearing them sing each other's songs together was just wow!  i love when bands sing together, so obviously i loved the encore at last night's show!

encore - both bands: 17 people on stage

the barclays

since i got free tickets from work, mike and i decided to get up at 6 am on saturday and drive [what was supposed to be] over 2 and a half hours to long island to watch the first of the pga playoff tournaments at bethpage black golf course in farmingdale, ny.

well, it only took us less than 2 hours [awesome!!], and it was a fantastic day.  we saw all the golfers: tiger, rory mcilroy, bubba watson, rickie fowler, phil mickelson, etc.

here are a few [illegal] photos from my day. [you aren't supposed to use your camera, but it's GORGEOUS there, so i couldn't help myself!!!]

first hole
tiger woods
masters champion, bubba watson, and british open champion, ernie els on the 18th hole
17th hole [so many sand traps]
amazing clubhouse access our tickets got us!

on the way home, we decided to take a detour through nyc.
mike loved driving on the manhattan surface streets!

we just got back from a concert [more about that tomorrow!] and we have work in the morning, so goodnight!

another summer weekend

i walked into work today and these were sitting on my desk.
i guess we are getting up at 6:30 and driving to new york tomorrow!

weekends this summer have been nuts lately, but it's just so fun to hop in the car with nothing to lose and go!  i'm so lucky.

[i know it sounds silly to drive all that way to a tournament for the day, but its the pga tour playoffs so EVERYONE will be there! so excited!]

summer[camp]'s end

today was my last day of summer camp.  for the past 7 weeks, i have directed a summer camp where young kids [ages 7-16] learn about golf and the first tee's core values.  no matter where you live in the u.s., there is most likely a first tee chapter near you - and all of the programs are super affordable. look it up!

not only are the kids unbelievable, so is the staff.  i have learned so much from them about teaching golf as well as working with kids. not to mention, we have had SO MUCH FUN together.  i already miss them so much!

here is a look back via instagram, for more of me on instagram, follow me @ megatronnn27.

here's what i will miss most...
awesome kids

rainy day games

graduation ceremonies

kickball days

feeling famous when the kids ask us for autographs

world war III aka a week of divots

my girl

the wildlife [a hawk one morning]

coworkers

pastels

tai chi for warmups

making friends

and we did it!

this weekend, for probably the first time since i was home at my parents' house during college vacations, i ate three home-cooked meals a day.  it was wonderful and all-around delicious.

here is a another look at my weekend in maine via the food.

saturday lunch: [no photo] sabretts hot dogs

saturday dinner: bbq grilled chicken, pasta salad, buttered noodles, and orange juice steamed carrots
with strawberry pretzel salad for dessert!

sunday lunch: grilled cheese, tomato soup, and chicken and rice soup
and of course, lots of woodchuck hard cider in between
