Our Wedding Feature Film

I am so so so excited to share this today.  I know I said earlier in the week that today would be all about the honeymoon, but when our videographer sent me this link on Sunday night, not only did it top T.Swift for best video of the night, but I also got a bit distracted (watch it 3 times and there goes an hour of your life!).  I do not blame you one bit if you don't want to spend 19 minutes of your own life watching it, but I still wanted to share.  I know I haven't gotten all the way through our wedding recap posts yet, so I am jumping the gun a bit, but I am just so excited to have it.  It really displays every part of our day so perfectly, and I couldn't be happier with the finished product.

Now it's your turn: share a wedding-inspired post with us!  Use the button, if you'd like, and please link back to my or Macy's blog so that others can join in Wedding Wednesday, too!

5 Things That Were Better Than The Super Bowl Game

Happy Monday!  Raise your hand if you live under a rock?  Okay, no one?  Then, hopefully you heard about that Super Bowl thing last night.  So, I might be from New England, but I am NOT a Patriots fan.  Mike's converted me to an Eagles fan and I had Russell Wilson as my fantasy QB this year, so you know who I was rooting for.  Needless to say, I do not want to talk about the end result of that game, but simply have one question: WHO CALLED THAT STUPID PLAY?!  Okay, moving on.  Instead of talking football, let's talk about 5 Super Bowl-related things this weekend that were better than the game itself...

1. I am definitely a Money Lynch fan.  I know he is a polarizing figure, but I think he's awesome, and I definitely respect him.  He and Gronk were on Conan last week and played the new Mortal Kombat against each other.  Hysterical.  Seriously, take a morning break and watch this.

2. Did anyone watch NFL Honors on Saturday night?  Aside from the NFL not keeping their award winners a secret and me reading about each of them via Sportscenter's Facebook a good half hour before each one was announced "live," it was awesome.  Seth Meyers was fantastic as host and his opening monologue was ON POINT.

3. All of the food.  In addition to chili dip, buff chic dip, pepperoni bread (yes, there were two), shrimp cocktail, and all the snack foods you can imagine, I also made football cake pops - thanks for the idea, Amanda!  Yellow cake with chocolate frosting.  I have no idea how anyone makes them look like this.  Mine were the ultimate Pinterest fail, and I don't think I need to describe what they look like.  But all that matters? They were delicious.

4. My top 5 commercials: Chevy and WiFi, Avocados from Mexico, Little Blue Pill Fiat, Kim K for T-Mobile, and Always #LikeAGirl (I'd seen this campaign before, but I'm so happy the entire Super Bowl audience saw it last night, too).

5. And lastly, a two part-er: a. My boss is awesome and said to "come in whenever" this morning since the day after the Super Bowl should be a national holiday, and b. It's 60 degrees and not going to snow a foot today, sorry New Englanders...

Did you watch the Super Bowl?  Did you have a favorite snack or commercial?

Backyard wildlife!

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen #wi[was]dn last Sunday.

I got home from work to a little backyard fire, so I decided to leaf blow and get the yard ready to plant grass seed.  We are determined to grow grass down our back hill this year.  It used to be covered in pachysandra but Mike pulled it all out. [Do any of you have experience with pachysandra??? It is the worst plant/weed ever!!!].

Well in the midst of leaf blowing, weeding, chopping wood [still from the winter storm], my roommate Jeff spotted something in our back stream.  It was a turtle! Check out how he went and got it in the video below.  Don't worry, we brought him back after a few minutes!

And just in case that wasn't enough of an animal fix, here are a couple more videos.  I think I've mentioned before Roxy's love of Nerf darts.  Well, lately we've been hiding them in funny places around the house.  Here are parts 1 and 2 of her trying relentlessly to get that dart.

Oh, and she's been really bad at sharing lately.  She insisted on more room on the couch the other night haha...

Oh High School {Vlog time}

I wrote this post probably two weeks ago, and it's taken me this long to muster enough courage to post it... so here goes nothing...

So I mentioned a while ago that I've had a crazy writer's block lately.  That turned into me catching up on recipes, a few photos, and a couple giveaways.  More or less, I'm just bribing you to keep reading and not forget about my blog.  Speaking of - Ashley wrote up a cute post about the package she just received of my favorite things - go check it out!

With that being said, I'm still sort of struggling with blogs topics [ideas, anyone??], so I followed Michelle's and Angi's lead and went for it: Welcome to Vlog Land.

A couple of things before I put myself out there:
1. I definitely didn't realize I get photobombed by Roxy's tail like 3 and a half minutes in, so look for that haha.
2. It sounds like I have a retainer in my mouth the whole time... I freaked out texting Mike right after asking if I sound like that in real-life and I do not, so sorry about the webcam quality!
3. I'm also sorry about my incapability to understand backwards left and right while showing you the photos... I already have left/right issues to begin with, so this wasn't easy haha.
4. As promised in the vlog, Leah's and Christine's blogs.
5. Finally, as Angi said, please be gentle.

Some serious subway flirting...

I am so tired of this:
Running in the cold and dark is getting old.  I'm sick of that headlamp and running around ice.  I've done 9 weeks of training and have another 1 to go.  I'm up to 11 miles or so.  I cannot wait to go to California.
In 9 weeks, what's changed?
- My hair got longer
- My gloves got thicker
- My phone broke
That's it.

Do you watch 30 Rock?  Well Liz Lemon and I agree on many things... including hating makeup, loving food [and Boggle], and the awfulness of January:

(Don't worry that it's not the full video, all you need is the first 2:00 to get the full effect.)

I hate winter. Especially January.  Christmas is over, I have to take down the Christmas tree, there is too much snow, I'm always cold, it's always dark, running is the hardest thing ever, you get the point.

On another note, can anyone not watch this show without thinking of Judah Friedlander as the hug guy?

Linking up with Kelly!

Vacation! We're here!

Well, we made it!  We are officially on vacation!

We went from snowing/30 degrees yesterday morning in Hartford to sunny/80 degrees here in Naples, Florida last night.  Oh my gosh, it is wonderful.

Mike and I are having a great time so far!  We had our car upgraded [because they didn't have any more standard cars] and our room upgraded.

My parents and I came to this same resort every February vacation when I was growing up, so I know it well.  We will be spending our time at the pool, beach, on the golf course [playing and watching because there is a PGA tournament here at the end of the week], shopping, and of course eating.  I LOVE Naples for the food.  The seafood, dessert shops, even burger places and supermarkets [Publix!!!] are amazing.

The only downside, I guess??, is that the internet is spotty.  There is wireless in the lobby [absolute other side of the resort], and at the pool [in the middle of this cute island that the condos surround].  So, I apologize, but there were only be a few scheduled posts this week.  But don't worry, they will be Christmas-themed!!  Now that it's December 2nd, I'm loving all the acceptable Christmas posts on so many blogs.  I also hope to catch up on all of them when I can!

Enjoy the rest of your weekends!  I'll leave you with a couple of photos I've taken so far - and a video I made for my friends back home, but check out where we're staying if you're interested.
the lovely view from our condo

Christmas lights + palm trees. Nothing is more beautiful.

Enjoying a lovely breakfast on the lanai, blogging this post which will be published when I bring my computer to the lobby.  Best part of breakfast? The most amazing Florida grapefruit juice ever!

Where we're staying!

spontaneity: ryder cup 2012

well, it's been just over 4 days since i decided to fly to chicago to watch golf's biggest event.

it was a whirlwind, but it was more than worth it.  here is the timeline of our adventure, and a few of my favorite photos from the ryder cup in chicago.

thursday:
lindsay came over for dinner and around 8:00 we started talking about how excited we were to watch the ryder cup the following day.  she joked about how she had tickets because she is a member of the pga of america as well as how she had a place to stay.  out of nowhere, i said, "well then, let's go!"  immediately, we started looking up flights and by 9:30, after talking to our bosses, we were booked for a flight to chicago the next morning.

friday:
after tons of packing and having to go into the office to finish a few things, lindsay got to my house around 2:00 am, and we slept for a couple of hours.  we got up at 5:00 am for our 6:50 flight out of hartford.

[change time zones]

we arrived at midway at 8:20 and took a cab to lindsay's college friend david's apartment.  we dropped our stuff, met david's family and started out on our 20 minute walk to medinah.  we got there, walked around to get our bearings and headed out to watch some golf.  we watched each of the 4 groups come through the 6th fairway and then headed to the 10th tee to get ahead of them.  [there were so many people there all weekend that it was impossible to follow a group for a whole round, we really had to plan well and get ahead of groups and wait to see action.]  we were only a few feet away from the players on the 10th, and obviously i couldn't contain myself and took a few illegal photos of the players.  one of the first ones i took was of phil mickelson.  as he walked by, i tried to snap a shot, and i hear him yell, "EXCUSE ME!"  i panicked, put my phone down, and looked at him.  then, he threw me the golf ball he had used on the previous hole.  "here you go, sweetie!"  how cool is that??? i was on cloud nine.  the rest of the day was spent watching groups on the 14th green with a lot of "u-s-a" chants.  on our way out, we stopped at the merchandise tent and bought souvenirs for our families, friends, boyfriends, and coworkers.  that night, we went to a great italian dinner with david and his family.

at the end of day 1, usa led 5-3.

saturday:
we woke up around 7:30 and headed to the course with a couple of david's roommates.  they had all worked at medinah this summer, and really knew the ropes, so it was great that they could show us around.  when we got in, we went to the 14th hole to watch the morning groups.  we watched phil and keegan win on 12 and the rest of the groups play 13 then 17.  for the afternoon matches, i watched everyone tee off on 1, and the spirit was like nothing i had ever been a part of before.  after grabbing some lunch, i headed out to 14 to wait for the groups to come through.  for the second day in a row, bubba watson and webb simpson won on the 14th and they were so entertaining to watch.  adjacent to the 14th green was the 12th tee, so we could also watch groups tee off there.  there was also a leaderboard and the roar of the crowd was incredible everytime that board changed in the us's favor.  the end of golf on saturday was spent watching groups play 17.  after that, was headed back to the apartment and talked forever with all of the roommates about how great the day had been.

at the end of day 2, usa led 10-6.

sunday:
tee times didn't start until 11, so we got there at 9, and did some last minute shopping.  we then headed over to the 1st tee to watch the singles matches tee off.  the funniest part of the morning was when everyone [including the entire european team] realized that rory mcilroy wasn't on site only 20 minutes before his tee time.  when he finally arrived, after thinking his tee time was at 12 not 11 because he heard it reported in eastern not central time, the chants of "glory, glory where is rory" and "central time zone" were hysterical.  after the groups teed off, we went and had some lunch and headed to the 17th green.  there were going to be close to 70,000 people there on sunday and we wanted to make sure we had a great spot to watch all the action.  there was also a huge television screen across the water from us on 17, so even when the groups were not there, we could still keep up with them.  well, sunday was pretty much a letdown.  the americans had a few leads, let them slip away, and the europeans just kept grinding.  we watched every group play through, and there was just a different feeling than there had been any other day.  we just had a feeling that we weren't going to make it happen.  and sure enough, the europeans won 14.5-13.5.  the walk back to the apartment and ride to the airport were hard, but we had a couple of drinks in the bar, and by 9:00 pm, we were headed back to connecticut.  we got back at 1:00, and now, a day later, i can finally say that even though they lost, it was the most exciting experience of my life.

here are a few photos and videos from the weekend, i will be sure to post a few of my other favorites soon.  now, i'm off to the golf course for a golf marathon.  "what is that?!?" you ask?  well, i'm going to play as many holes as i can in 8 hours to raise money for the organization i work for - wish me luck!

oh, and it's my birthday tomorrow, so i will be sure to post about my birthday festivities that started last night soon!

day 1:

singer/songwriter - Laura Dowding: TAKE A LISTEN!

laura and i have been friends, well, forever.  she grew up down the street from me, we went to the same school pre-school through high school, and she has always been a wonderful musician.
laura and i on our first day of preschool
now, she is reaching for her dreams.  she has been living in LA for a while now, and now she is taking the next step...
she just began her kickstarter, and i am so happy to support her.  if you would please watch this and consider supporting the project, either by simply publishing it on your own blog or giving monetarily, it will definitely be worth your while.
not to mention, she is one of the kindest and most genuine people you will ever meet in your life.
come on, don't you want to be able to say that you helped her with her first album when you watch her accept her first grammy on tv??

why yes, that is us sitting in the piano bench in her living room at her 2nd birthday!
fyi my mom sent me these pictures via her cell phone - hence the less-than-perfect quality.

excitement and the big move!

what a couple of days!!

i just woke up from a wonderful nap after today's uconn vs north carolina state football game [uconn lost 10-7].  the game was at noon, so the tailgate started promptly at 7:30 am.  a couple of my friends who also work in the golf industry in CT and went to NC state joined us for the game -- it was great!  i love morning games because there is even more food than usual.  today we had breakfast burritos [my personal favorite] of scrambled eggs, bacon, and cheese, "chicken on a stick" marinated in italian dressing, and sausage and peppers; not to mention all of the cupcakes, chips, salsa, and other goodies.
mimosas, burritos, and jello shots... saturday morning breakfast of champions
mike and me [boy, it was early]
uconn vs. nc state flip cup -- hey, at least we won this game!
ct golf family... and mike's photobomb
now for the real reason i needed that nap: our office and new learning center is officially moved!  it took from 7 am until 10 pm yesterday, but it's done for the most part.
way too many happy faces on my coffee at 6 am
trying to be inspirational -- this was the site plan from 2007 and the site is finally done!
a mid-morning look at the chaos that was our office as well as the overall floor plan of our building

10 pm, all set up!
common office space; back storage room
downstairs classroom; putting green and simulator
my desk area

and a better look at my desk...

and i got my desk all together even with a 3 hour break to teach some lessons.  even as my coworkers were moving, we had our first class inside the building for a contest at the end of class.

and after all of that, i rewarded myself with a little fun on the simulator.  mike and i played this fun game [that he was better at] where you try and hit windows on the screen!

how adorable is this 3rd grader?! she said she had only played golf once with her cousin.  we need her in the program - future lpga!
