My First Foodie Pen Pal!

Since I moved to Charleston, I've been trying to get my "foodie" side in gear with all of the great restaurants around town.  Let's be real, maybe I wasn't a foodie before because if you look up foods famous by state, for Connecticut you'll find a steamed cheeseburger or pizza you can get in any other state and for RI you'll find hotdogs... no joke [but seriously, what else do I expect from a state where the state bird is a chicken and the state flower is a weed?].

Moral of the story, I could not wait to join Foodie Pen Pals and share some Charleston awesome-ness with a new friend.  I was paired with Kelcie from Hammers and Hot Plates who is also a newlywed!  She and her husband, Andrew, put together a fantastic package with goodies that all had a story and are from their home state of Oklahoma!

They even sent Mike and me this beautiful 3-year journal to complete together with questions on tons of different topics!

In return, I sent Kelcie a few of my favorites and some new Charleston finds I found in the city.  You can check out more about what I sent her on her blog

I cannot wait to participate again next month!  Thanks to Lindsay at The Lean Green Bean for hosting!

Happy Active Nation Day!

Today is Active Nation Day, a movement created in 2012 by Lorna Jane to help women live an authentic and active life.  Since its inception, the L.J. A.N.D. sisterhood has collectively moved over 4.9 million miles!  As a Sweat Pink Ambassador, I will definitely be taking part in National Active Day by exploring my new city on foot!

I encourage you to find some way to be active today and enjoy some fresh air!  Click here to learn more!

The Chow: Five Loaves

It's almost lunch time!  That means it's time for another Charleston Chowdown

Every once in a while, my boss will grab me and say that we're going to lunch: fine by me!  A couple weeks into my job, she brought me to Five Loaves, which is a great soup, salad, and sandwich sit-down place.  Needless to say, I've been back a few times since.  Not only is the food amazing, but they are all about catering to different allergies, and they bring in all of the ingredients from local farms.

my favorite: gluten free chicken, black bean, and avocado chili and a caesar salad with fresh tortellini on top

Because, WEDDING SPIRIT, that's why

I am way too excited for my wedding this weekend.  I keep finding myself going back and looking at wedding photos from the last wedding I was in this June because I don't want to browse Pinterest and potentially find an idea I somehow missed over the last 13 months...  And yes, I know I already shared photos of her big day, but she was nice enough to share the professional ones from Gulino Photography with me, as well, so now, I'm sharing them with you for Wedding Wednesday:
