The Unofficial Start of Spring

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend!  I know I'm a bit late with my recap, but I needed an extra day to get back in the game.  Mike's cousin and her fiance are in town this week, and it's been fantastic to see them and spend the holiday with them.  Obviously, we've been doing tons of Charleston things.  Seriously, if you want to visit the Lowcountry, April is definitely the time to do it (especially if you're from up North!).  Everything is in bloom, the weather is in the low 70s, and there is so much to do!

We started our long weekend on Good Friday at the high ropes course.  Last time we went to Wild Blue Ropes, it was at night for their Valentine's Day climb, so I was excited to try it during the day (when I could actually see how high I was off the ground - haha!).  After three hours of climbing, we rewarded ourselves with DeSano's pizza and Jeni's ice cream.

On Saturday, Mike and I headed downtown while Pam and Dena went parasailing and kayaking (adventurous, I know!).  We met up with Gillian for the first farmers' market of the year.  We bought tons of veggies, but my favorite stop was the fresh pasta and sauce.  We bought ravioli, pappardelle, and vodka sauce.  We had the pappardelle, vodka sauce, and some grilled chicken for dinner that night and it was amazing!! After the market, we stopped by Callie's for biscuits and took a long walk around the battery and Tradd Street to see all of the beautiful spring flower boxes and trees in bloom.

Easter Sunday was the perfect spring relaxing day.  We enjoyed a quick breakfast at Waffle House, and while we slowcooked a maple brown sugar ham, we sat by the pool and soaked up the sun.  I'd say we did pretty good for our first adult Easter with no parents to take the lead - haha!  Oh, and Mike also made a killer French Silk Pie!

Now we're into a fantastic week of sports!! Tonight is the men's NCAA championship, tomorrow is the women's championship (Go Huskies!), MLB's regular season started this week, the Family Circle Cup is in Charleston, and, of course, it's Masters week!!

Linking up (a little late) for: Weekend Recap, Weekending, and Monday Madness!

Five Before (Good) Friday

Helloooooo, three-day weekend!  Easter is my favorite and down here in South Carolina, it's definitely the unofficial start of spring.  Flowers are in bloom and it's going to be in the 80s tomorrow.  I can't wait to just stroll around downtown all weekend, and Gillian told me about an awesome Easter hat parade on Saturday morning that we will for sure be going to!  Even though it's only Thursday, here's 5 things for you:

1 // Speaking of Gillian, I've had many a blate in the past couple of weeks. I met Jillian's beautiful baby girl Violet last week, went out on a double date to The Alley with Erika and her husband, and hung out a few times with Shelby and, of course, Gillian.  Yeah, I've reached the point that I think I need to stop calling them blates haha.  These ladies have become some fantastic friends in Charleston, and they're all amazing people.  (Hint, hint: check them out!)

2 // Has anyone seen that you can play Pac-man in Google maps?  I've been having my share of fun with that in downtown Charleston.  If you haven't, you need to check it out!

3 // If you're looking for something fun to craft, create, or cook this weekend, check out my Easter Round up from last year.

4 // Sia released another new video with Maddie Ziegler today: Big Girls Cry.  Definitely check it out, but I don't think it's as good as Chandelier or Elastic Heart.

5 // Mike's meal game has been on point lately.  He's been making some amazing Damn Delicious recipes (Korean Beef Bowl is up this weekend), and used leftovers from my mac and cheese to make mac and cheese-stuffed burgers in the cast iron skillet.  They were amazing as they look.  We paired it with my favorite pasta salad, and I know we will be enjoy more of this throughout the spring and summer.

Mike's cousins are here for the weekend!  I'll be back on Tuesday, so I can enjoy the long weekend with them!  I hope everyone has a happy Easter!!

April Fool's: Wedding Outtakes

Since today is April Fool's, I thought it would be fun to share a few bloopers from our wedding photos.  Some of them were intentional, while others just happened throughout the day.  I love that our photographer included these on our photo jump drive, they really show the fun and crazy things that happened throughout the day.  Future brides, just remember: there is no such thing as a perfect wedding, and why would you want that anyway???

This one has become the best joke among my group of bridesmaids.  Here's what my life will now be: sitting on the floor, on my wedding day, painting my sister-in-law's toes as she drinks a mimosa.  Okay, maybe you had to be there, but this photo makes me laugh.

Brother and sister love /// Can we talk about how both my mom and I ruined this sweet one with bitchy resting face?

Apparently the guys struggled a bit and didn't know what to do with their hands...

Not a clue what made me laugh during the ceremony,  but definitely blooper-reel quality.

I think I've mentioned this before (yes, I did), but our ring bearer was a little struggle bus on the wedding day.  I don't think he even entered the church at all and, yeah, pretty much every photo looks like this.  But seriously, our flower girl/goddaughter made up for it and was AMAZING.  She walked down the aisle/into the reception all by herself and even danced with her brother as a stand in during our first dance.  She's the best!

Our photographer sent this one as a joke, and yes, we cannot forget her and our videographer crawling on the ground and all over throughout the day :)

Cutest ever!

My wedding dress had a corset back with a white piece that was supposed to fit over it and snap into place.  It kept shifting and my poor MOH spent multiple occasions under my dress, fixing it.

We took photos in tons of cool spots around the golf course, before our reception.  Luckily, I had the best groom to carry me down from those spots ;)

See that beam across the ceiling?  Yeah, the wedding coordinator warned me that my bouquet toss would hit it, and sure enough, it did.  I had to throw it a second time - whoops!
