The Chow: Zia

Welcome to my first installment of Charleston Chowdown.  In case you missed it a couple of weeks ago, because Charleston is such a culinary city, my goal is to go to as many different restaurants as possible and share them with you.
Today we're starting with probably my favorite restaurant so far: Zia Taqueria.

Zia was the first restaurant I ever went to in Charleston.  On my second day of work, my boss brought me here and we sat outside, munched on chips and salsa, talked about everything.
It's a blend of regional Mexican, Tex-Mex, and Southwestern cuisine.  One of my favorite aspects is that it's a very relaxed atmosphere where you order at the bar, receive your drinks and a number for your food there, and find a table.  Before your meal arrives, they bring fresh tortilla chips and amazing salsa, then the meals are always there within 10 minutes.
So far, my absolute favorite thing on the menu is the enchiladas.  You can mix and match different types and my favorites are the Chicken Yucatan and cheese.  Their roasted corn is also TO DIE FOR and is a way better version of my Mexican street corn.  Their tortilla soup, guacamole, margaritas, and nachos are also top notch!  They're even super good to go!  On hard days at work, I've definitely ordered them and brought them back to my office for lunch :)

Zia definitely gets a 10/10.

I almost skipped this post because I knew it would make me hungry :) This sounds like a great place to eat, and I'm going to keep this in mind for the next time we visit Charleston!
