Cosmetics Favorites to Start 2015

I have been buying a lot of makeup lately.  Before last summer, I could literally fit all of my makeup into a sandwich bag: a little stick concealer, a lip gloss, and an eye liner/mascara combo that I barely ever used.  Well, when I did start buying, I had no idea where to begin, so I bought a lot of everything.  I do most of my makeup shopping at CVS and Target, so I fell in love with "drug store" brands like Maybelline, L'Oreal, and Revlon.  Around the same time, I also started watching a lot of Kallie's "Battle of the Drugstore Beauty Products" videos, which gave me a lot of helpful suggestions.  I've reached the point where I have tried lots of different brands of the same item, so I thought I'd share my favorites with you!  While composing this post, I realized I was writing way too much about each item, so I decided to break it into a three-part series.  Regardless of which products I'm using that day, I always start the morning with Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream (in Light/Medium) after washing my face with Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub.  After that, it's onto these.  Enjoy part 1!

Concealer:
Good: Covergirl truBLEND Fixstick (in Light)
Better: Maybelline Fit Me Concealer (in Sand)
Best: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment (in Light)
Ugh, being 26 years old and still getting break outs like a 14 year old is the worst.  The Covergirl Fixstick's formula is so thick and works well for adequately covering little, individual spots, but is almost impossible to blend.  The Maybelline Fit Me's coverage is just as good and much better to blend.  As for the Dark Circle Eraser: God's gift to women.  It seriously covers so well and makes eyes look so much brighter.  On a typical day, I use the Eraser and Fit Me concealer together.

Eye Shadow Palette
Good: Revlon PhotoReady Primer + Shadow (in Metropolitan)
Better: Almay Intense I-Color Shimmer-I Kit (for Greens)
Best: Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow Trios (in Almond Satin)
After Shelby shared all about the e.l.f. Eyelid Primer, I had to get it immediately.  With that, I never have any problem with eye shadow staying put, so they all do that equally well.  For me, these comparisons are about pigment and the way the colors look together.  I'm a big fan of neutral colors (as you can see with my choices haha).  The Revlon palette did not glide on as smoothly as the others, and because I already use the e.l.f. primer, I did not need the one that came with it.  The "Better" Almay kit had nice colors, but did not brighten up my green eyes like I hoped.  On the other hand, I am a big fan of the Almay Intense i-color in Raisin Quartz and CG Exact Eyelights in Black Ruby combination (all for green eyes) that does actually brighten my eyes!  Overall, my favorite is definitely the Maybelline Trios: it goes on so well and the colors are fantastic.

There you have it!  Thanks for reading, and check back next week for parts 2 and 3!

I need to try that dark circle eraser! I am pretty much make-up challenged when it comes to concealer and foundation though. I should start watching youtube videos!

I use the same Almay eye shadow but for blue eyes. Cover Girl also makes color specific lines, and I love their mascaras.

I see Maybelline's Falsies.. best mascara ever! I've tried so many others, but that is my tried and true :)

And I hear ya on the adult acne.. I'm 31 and have the skin of a teenager. It's hormonal acne, and I'm hoping it'll pass soon. Ugh.

Happy Friday :-D

Holla! Glad you're liking the primer (and you cannot beat the price, I swear!). I use a few of these products but it's been forever since I had the under eye roller (and I need it more than ever hah). Love this post!
