You Never Stop Learning...

They (not sure who "they" are, but I digress) say that no matter how old you are, you are always learning.  I feel like I've learned a pretty good number of practical things this summer, and I thought I'd share them with you in hopes that some of them can make your lives better:
- Apply sunscreen before leaving the house.  Mike actually taught me this one, and I have definitely not been as burned this summer.  Basically, sunscreen over sweat is useless (yes, even the sweat-proof stuff).  It can't absorb and you'll burn.  Instead, put on sunscreen before you leave the house so it has time to soak in as you're walking to the pool or driving to the beach.

- How to catch a kickball.  Okay, so this one won't apply to you, but I am pretty damn proud of myself.  I made Mike kick ball after ball at me, and now I'm not afraid of the ball.  Win!

- There are such things as yearly "modern" wedding gifts?  I know about traditional (paper, cotton, leather...), but modern?  "Clocks" is first anniversary, but I gave him a watch for our wedding, so I think I'm going to skip that line of gifts.

- Put deodorant on before you go to bed.  Apparently deodorant needs time to block your sweat ducts (sorry if I'm grossing you out), and if you put it on before bed, it'll work all night to do its job.  Even if you're a morning showerer, it'll only wash off the excess, and the deodorant should work for a full 24 hours.  It's been working for me!

- Another thing to do at night: dry shampoo. I used to use it in the morning, but here's another thing that can benefit from working all night while you sleep.

- All the words to "Rapper's Delight."  Okay, another one that just pertains to me, but if you want to join me for a sing-along, here you go!

- Disclaimer: I don't know if this one is true, but I'm going to share it anyway.  I heard that if you're super, super hungry, the first thing you eat is what your body will start to crave.  So, whenever I need a snack (Yes, it's been all carrots.  I'm trying not to confuse my body and I actually feel like this could be starting to work!).

Alright, that's everything I've learned this summer.  Yes, I know some are way more useful than others for y'all, but hey, sharing is what blogging's all about, right?

PS. Before you go, make sure you check out my Scentsy giveaway!  Have a great weekend!

Awesome tips gurlie! I really need to get better about putting on sunscreen before I leave the house! And I usually put my deodorant on at night too, but I had no idea about the dry shampoo - great to know!

Happy Friday <3

The deodorant thing does work! We need to shout that from the rooftops for everyone in the hot as heck heat of Charleston and Houston.

Girl! You may have just changed my life ;) I would've never thought of putting on deodorant or dry shampoo before bed!! And the first thing you eat theory has me totally intrigued...maybe a healthier breakfast is in order right about now. ;) Thanks for sharing! Have a fab weekend!! xo - Brenda // Chatting Over Chocolate

I kinda believe that about the snacks - I think its about training your brain. Since doing the 21 day fix, I really haven't craved the sweets like I used to.

I didn't know the deodorant one - interesting

I do that sunscreen tip all the time... but only because who wants to get sandy and then put on sunscreen at the beach? So much easier to apply before you go!

I've never heard of that deodorant tip, but will now try it out! I always use that sunscreen tip and it definitely makes a BIG difference!

I think I need to try your kickball lesson! I am always afraid of the ball flying at me so maybe I need Jared to do that and then I'll get over it :) Happy Friday!

Go you and the carrots, lady! The deodorant trick is definitely one I need to try as I always feel like I can't find a deodorant that "works", so duh, put it on the day before. Hope you've had a good week, friend. :)

I have heard of the modern anniversary gifts, but I prefer the traditional ones.

Putting deodorant on before bed is such an interesting one – I could see how that would work though! As is dry shampoo – I always do the morning but definitely thinking of trying nights now.

I would have never, ever thought to put on deodorant or dry shampoo before bed, but that totally makes sense! And I need to get better about the sunscreen - I'm dealing with a sunburn from Friday and it's not fun!

I am going to start using that deodorant and dry shampoo tip, I have never heard about that! And modern wedding gifts? That's such an odd thing. I think we will stick with paper as the first year gift.
