Home Sweet Home

We have some exciting news to share today, and no, it's not a belated April Fools prank!  We are buying a house in Charleston!  When we moved down here two years ago, we decided to rent since we weren't sure how long we would be here, but after a couple of years, we're just not ready to be done with the South yet.

So many friends and family, especially those in New England, keep asking us, "SO YOU'RE NEVER COMING BACK?!" Nooooo, South Carolina is still a temporary location, and a few years from now, when we are a bit more family-minded, we can definitely see ourselves heading back up the coast to be closer to family, but in the meantime, there is still so much to explore in this city!

We are building a house in a community only 3 miles from where we are now.  We love the area, just outside of downtown, and are very happy with this location.  The community has been around for almost 10 years, and so far, all of our new neighbors have only had great things to say about the people, the builders, and the amenities.
Our house will be a corner lot, on the right side of the photo above.  We won't have a lot of land, but we will be only one house away from a huge, beautiful park.  That's our "SOLD" sign below!
Building a home from scratch was something we never even thought about until we met with our real estate agent and saw a few options in this community.  Seriously, y'all, choosing everything from our cabinets to floors and bathroom fixtures to banister material has been so much fun.  Somehow we agreed on almost everything for the interior, but our biggest and hardest design was exterior color.  It wasn't because we wanted different colors but because we like two colors!  We narrowed it down to "East Bay Townhouse" (on the left below) and "Summers Breeze" (on the right).  We wanted something bright to go along with our Southern home.  Sorry, Clemson friends, we went with the minty blue-green, if only because we thought resale might be a bit easier!
I cannot wait to share updates every so often in this process.  Hopefully, our closing date will be around the first day of summer!  We are so excited for this new adventure!

So exciting, CONGRATS to you both! Another reason I love living in the south is the availability of new construction homes, and picking out everything you want. We built our home a few years ago too, and it was such a fun process. Can't wait to see the different stages of your house coming together <3
