Hot Dogs and Ice Cream: Parlor Deluxe

Erika and I love taking our husbands on double dates to new Charleston restaurants.  We're both on Yelp and go on constant bookmarking sprees to save new restaurants we want to try.  Last week's adventure was to a place I've been following (and drooling over) on Instagram since they opened last summer, Parlor Deluxe.
Located on the corner of St. Philip and Spring streets, what the restaurant lacks in size (it only has 6 table seats and 4 bar seats), it definitely makes up for in crazy and delicious flavor combinations.  Parlor Deluxe does only four things (and does them so well): hot dogs, tots, ice cream, and waffles.
Between the four of us, we ordered at least one of everything.  Mike and I shared the Chinese 5 Spice Tots with guava-smoke honey mustard dipping sauce, I got the Tropic Hunger Dog (topped with bacon bits, guava-smoke honey mustard, crushed avocado, and pineapple-jalapeƱo relish) and Mike devoured the Royale with Cheese (pork chili, cheddar cheese whiz, (sans onions or mustard,) on a pretzel roll).  There was also an egg cream for him and soda float for me (Cheerwine and brownie cheesecake ice cream - SO GOOD).  I believe Erika and her husband got the Huevos Rancheros Waffle and Poutine Tots.
After ordering at the counter, everything came out quickly and was delicious.  Besides the Cheerwine float, my favorite was definitely the tots. They were cooked to a perfect crisp and the guava honey mustard is amazing!  The prices were a bit high if you see yourself as "just getting hot dogs," but if you think of it as a dinner out (and we were very full afterwards), $33 is pretty good for two people! While we have a few other hot dog places we want to try before going back to Parlor Deluxe, we will definitely bring all hot dog-loving visitors to this cute spot!

I agree, the tots were my favorite too! I should've ordered my own so I didn't have to share :)
