Summer Bucket List

Each summer, I love putting together a list of new adventures.  I feel like the seasons just fly by, and checking in on this list every other week or so helps me stay more intentional, not just letting these beautiful summer weeks slip by.  Here's my list for this year:

- Attempt to grow Confederate Jasmine: One of my friends had this growing up the columns on her last house and is doing the same on her new house.  She told me that it's pretty easy to do, so I'd love to add some to the columns on our front double porch.
- Build a blanket ladder: Sooooo, I killed my giant Ikea palm in our living room.  My thumbs are definitely not green.  Now we have a big empty area to the right of our television, and I've love to add ladder right there.
- Stay active 5 nights each week: Right now, we're playing football, kickball, tennis, and golf.  I can't see much of that changing, so that's at least 4 nights per week, plus I'd love to get back into running more.
- Finish our back patio: This project is still going.  I really want some pretty string lights and more comfortable seating!
- Watch the solar eclipse: August 21st, a total solar eclipse is going to happen right over Charleston.  This is pretty much a reminder so I don't forget to go out on the Ravenel Bridge and watch it!
- Try 5 new Charleston restaurants: This one has been on our bucket list the last two summers (2015 and 2016), and we've accomplished it each year.  There are always new spots popping up, plus tons of amazing places we still have yet to try.  This amazing paella below was from a work event, made by FIG chef, Mike Lata... hoping that spot might be on the list this summer!
- Shoot under par: Last year, I shot even par, but this summer, I want to get under par.  We'll see!
- Read at least 2 books by the pool: Anyone have a favorite comedy book?  These have been my favorites lately, and so far, Lauren Graham's book is the only one on my list!
- Go berry picking: I love all the family farms in the Lowcountry, and we've done strawberries and blueberries in the past.  I'd definitely go back to one of those or even find a new farm for raspberries (my favorite!).

I'm about to add a blanket ladder to our living room, too! As soon as our former roommate takes his speakers...

I'm so glad you mentioned the total eclipse. I didn't know but will mark my calendar! I think my summer goal is visiting new coffee shops. I love a good cup of coffee. I'm all about making it my summer mission :)

Confederate jasmine is SUPER easy to grow here. Just start with a small vine and it'll take off. Don't trim the ends, just wrap them back around where you want it to grow! I love the few weeks when it blooms - smells so good!

We are not overly handy people, so we found a blanket ladder that matched our cabin-y furniture for like $70. Can't wait to see what y'all come up with!

We just built an ikea blanket ladder not too long ago - love it!

When we were in Charleston way back when (like 2004) one of our favorite spots, especially for their key lime pie, was Charleston Crab House, the location right on the water. We also like this little almost hole in the wall place around Folly Beach, had the best hush puppies. I'm sure they aren't there and your list is huge on places to try but I remember those 2 as to being great!

Fun list of things to keep you bust this summer. I've never gone berry picking so that definitely has to change.

Summer bucket lists are always so fun to read! We went berry picking this weekend and it was so much fun, plus so nice to have endless fresh berries on hand now. The jasmine will look so pretty on your columns!
