BH: Stolen - Wake Up and Smell the Melitta!

Now that we're all back into the swing of things after the holiday season, plus the added bonus of trying to find the energy to workout to keep those pesky New Year's resolutions, caffeine is a must in my life.  I am obsessed with my Keurig single-serve brewer, like seriously.  We're finally out of the hundreds of K-cups we got last Christmas, so when I heard about Melitta giving away free coffee to try - I was there!

I was sent two of Melitta's Cafe de Europa Single Serve Coffee cups.  Melitta cups for single serve brewers are different than other "K-cups" because they maximize flavor extraction.  The traditional way of brewing a cup of coffee in a single serve machine happens when holes are poked in the top and bottom of single serve cups and water runs straight in and out of the cup, with minimal contact with the ground coffee. Melitta cups are shorter in height, so a hole is only poked in the top of the cup.  The Melitta cups also have mesh sides, so instead of water flowing straight through the cup, the water enters the top of it, swirls around inside the cup, and exits out the mesh sides, giving it more time to brew.

Recently, Mike has become quite the coffee connoisseur, drinking a lot of dark roasts, so I was happy to let him test these samples and get his opinions for review.  First, he tried the Vienna Roast.  He said that it was a dark roast, but was not bitter like other dark coffees he'd had.  He loved it!  The next day, he tried the Classique.  He said that this is your typical breakfast coffee or medium roast, but much more smooth than other "big" coffee brands.  He said that most "regular" coffee drinkers would prefer the Classique, but he preferred the Vienna Roast.  He enjoyed both cups black, as he usually drinks his coffee these days, so his opinions are definitely based just on the coffee.

Thank you, Melitta for sharing your coffee with us!
(As you can see, I obviously stole a few sips)

I received two complimentary samples of Melitta coffee in exchange for this review, but all content and opinions are my (and Mike's) own.

I think bad coffee is a crime, and though I use creamer, flavor is very important to us. I use the reusable K-cup with Trader Joe's coffee. It's our favorite!
