Valentine's Day: Koala Bears Always Lose Cherries Under Big Overpasses

Please tell me someone out there gets the reference?

Does this help?  If not, I promise I'll get there.  Here's my Valentine's Day weekend recap:
My Valentine's Day began on Wednesday when a delivery arrived at my office.  I've never had anything delivered to me and I cannot tell you how much I love Edible Arrangements!  When I opened the card, I couldn't help but smile.  Even though it wasn't signed, I knew exactly who it was from; there's only one person in the world who calls me "Meggie."
He did an amazing job!! He even got everything I love in it - the chocolate covered strawberries and apples and none of that gross melon!!

Thursday was a surprise snow day!  Mike and I got to spend the day together, which was great!
Inside, we drank hot cocoa, watched 24 [Our goal is to watch every season over before the new one begins.], and made my favorite comfort food 5-ingredient lasagna.

Every few hours we went stir crazy, so we went outside to play in the show, shovel, even make a little hipster snowman and take Shadow for a ride around the block on the unplowed roads in the Jeep - she had so much fun!

Now onto Friday; a few weeks ago, I asked Mike if I could plan a surprise Valentine's Day for him.  I know, usually it's the guys that plan stuff, but he is always so thoughtful, so I knew he'd appreciate a little role-reversal.  After work, we headed out to a little wine bar for apps and happy hour drinks [actually the same place I went for our CT Bloggers' Meetup].  We tried a few different apps, a couple different drinks, even got to have Sam Adams's new spring seasonal: Cold Snap.  Seriously, it's the best Sam I've ever had!!
After happy hour, we walked [remember, Mike had no idea what we were doing, even as we were walking/driving from place to place] to a roller skating rink.  I found it online and went there because it was the only place anywhere near us that rented rollerblades [Mike used to rollerblade all the time as a kid].  It was a total hole-in-the-wall place haha but we had fun together!  I have to say, I think I'm better at ice skating than roller skating haha!  Now, if you didn't get my title reference, it's from Modern Family.  Phil tries to teach Gloria how to roller skate, and KBAL CUBO teaches her how: knees bent, arms loose, chin up, butt out.  Every time we do any type of skating, we always thank Phil Dunphy for his little tutorial.

After skating, we drove to our favorite Mexican restaurants.  They didn't take reservations for Valentine's, but I figured since it was 9:30, the wait couldn't be that long.  Well, I was wrong... the wait was still an hour and a half!!!  Soooo yeah, a Five Guys opened earlier in the week only 5 minutes from our house, so we bailed on Mexican and got some burgers, fries, and peanuts!  The night ended on the couch, in footy pajamas [that I gave him for V-Day], watching 24 [see a pattern?]!

Saturday and Sunday were spent lounging.  We had another snow storm on Saturday, but by the evening we were going stir crazy so we picked up Papa John's and played golf [at Spyglass in Pebble Beach] on my simulator at work.  Obviously, we came home after and watched 24.  On Sunday, we could only watch so much tv, so we rearranged our living room and even drove 45 minutes to get calzones!

Apparently I have today off [Happy Presidents' Day!!], so I'm thinking I'll watch a couple chick flicks, maybe do some crafting [ideas???], and catch up on some blogging!!

I hope you all had a very happy and loving Valentine's Day!!

Sounds like a perfect weekend!! I meant to re-cap mine, but man... I get so lazy around Sunday nights, that I don't... and then I don't wake up early enough to post anything before work lol.. Terrible! I know. I got a delivery at work too!! It was so awesome!! I was shocked, honestly! I got some beautiful roses, and I just love having plants/flowers in my office. They came the day before Valentine's day, so it was definitely unexpected. Then Nick came home this weekend, so that was wonderful. We saw the lego movie - which was funny. Went to Whole Foods, of course. I'm obsessed. Went to a birthday party and had a wonderful weekend all around! Our link-up is SOOOONNNN!!!!! :) Also, I feel like I haven't talked to you in forever... which is probably why my comment is a thousand miles long! Have a great week!

So happy to hear that you and Mike enjoyed such a GREAT Valentine's Day celebration!!! I love that you both put so much thought into making it a special one, between the amazing edible arrangement he sent you, and the fun night you planned!! :)
