Out of Office Reply: International Women's Day

Today, I am participating in a #DayWithoutAWoman.

In the same spirit of love and liberation that inspired the Women’s March, we join together in making March 8th A Day Without a Woman, recognizing the enormous value that women of all backgrounds add to our socio-economic system — while receiving lower wages and experiencing greater inequities, vulnerability to discrimination, sexual harassment, and job insecurity. -Women's March organizers

I will not be going to work or spending money in support of the movement.  However, please do not think that I will be sitting at home, taking a vacation day.  I will be working as effectively as I can, writing to my representatives about my stance on women's issues and meeting with other women in the community to organize our ideas into action.
I acknowledge that not all women are able to participate in this strike, but I hope many of you will still opt into wearing red in solidarity with our sisters across the country.
Today is all about empathy.  If you are lucky enough to have never experienced sexual harassment, pay inequality, or sexism in hiring, please think about the millions of women across our country and the world who have.  This blog is my outlet, and while it is my professional brand, it also holds my name, and I would not feel right keeping quiet regarding something about which I feel so strongly.

Well...if all the women surrounding me took today off, there wouldn't be a school for the kids to attend. But we are rocking red so in the game still! :)

I'm so confused about what this day actually is... I mean, I think women rock EVERY DAY & should be acknowledged for such ;)
I didnt even know I was supposed to wear red - neither did any coworkers so we've been looking for red binders to carry :) haha
