A Weekend in Cooperstown

My favorite weekend of the year!  Cooperstown, New York is the spot for our annual pilgrimage to watch the newest inductees enter the Baseball Hall of Fame.  I've been to induction every year of my life, and my parents have been going for 35 years.  We stay at a tiny, local motel, walk everywhere around town, visit The Hall to see what's new since last year, and always do something new and different.

Every day in Cooperstown always begins at Schneider's Bakery on Main Street.  That baseball mitt cookie was as delicious as it was pretty!
From there, we walked down Main Street for our annual All-Star Game jersey photo shoot in front of Doubleday Field on the way to the Baseball Hall of Fame.  I love to see where the new plaques will go (this year, the incoming inductees even signed their future plaque spots) and read a little about each player.  This year, Ivan Rodriguez, Jeff Bagwell, Tim Raines, Bud Selig, and John Schuerholz were inducted.
Obviously, one of my first stops in The Hall was to see the annually updated "Fall Classic" section.  SO excited to see all the Cubs' memorabilia and their World Series ring!
As I mentioned, there is always something new we add to our agenda every year.  Whatever it is always becomes a tradition, so year after year, we get busier and busier.  Last year, it was Brewery Ommegang, and this year, it was berry picking.  Only 10 minutes outside of town is Middlefield Orchard.  Mike and I picked raspberries (since they don't grow them in SC), and my parents picked blueberries.  They also had blackberries, which were almost in season!
Sunday was induction day.  We watched 50 returning Hall of Famers and the 5 newest inductees on stage with 80,000 or so other people.  It was a beautiful, sunny day to end our adventure!
Oh yeah, and there was a lot of ice cream, too!  This place is so beautiful, and as always, I can't wait to go back next year!

Love this tradition, and the perfect time of year to go! I'm so sad that all those years I lived in CT, I never went to Cooperstown. Definitely need to change that the next time we're up there for a visit <3
