Radio Silence

Why hello, friends!  It feels like it's been forever.  While I've had some collaboration posts and scheduled Christmas-themed topics for y'all, it's been a couple of weeks since I've actually sat down to write any content or comment on any blogs.  Last week, I had to have another emergency eye surgery.  I called Mike sobbing when I started seeing a repeatable flash of light, and sure enough, more retina detachment.  Everything seems to be going better now, and I really have the best retina doctor out there.

With all the craziness, our Christmas decorating has been so delayed, and even though we got our tree a week ago, we haven't decorated it...whoops.  In true South Carolina fashion, we bought it at a stand outside Chick-fil-A.  I have to admit, I do like the way it looks with just the twinkle lights!
The one thing we have done is decorate outside.  I was so excited to bring down all of our lawn ornaments this summer when we moved the rest of our stuff from our house in Connecticut to South Carolina.  Living in an apartment the last two Christmases, I've missed not decorating a lawn like we used to in CT, so we made sure to go all out and even added a new addition to the gang with R2-D2.  Even since this photo was taken, we've added more icicles, so I'll share more decor photos next week.
Once I was feeling better, last weekend we went to Charlotte for a Hornets and Panthers game.  The city was so beautifully decorated for Christmas, and I especially loved the little German Christmas Market in Romare Bearden Park.  You could grab a mug of hot, spiked cider or a beer and walk all around.
The night we went to the Hornets game was mascot night, so you can tell from my major cheesin' how excited I was to meet Sir Purr and Hugo the Hornet.  Tons of other local minor league and college mascots were there, too.  On top of that, Michael Jordan was sitting 4 rows in front of us.  No Joke.
And lastly, I was super pumped to start playing kickball again this week.  We've been on two teams for a couple of seasons now, and both teams made the playoffs!  We've started hosting brunch parties for both teams on Sundays to watch football, and I'm so grateful for the friends I've made this year.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!! While today might only barely hit 50, by Sunday, it'll be in the 70s, so perfect weather for downtown shopping and some golf!

Oh I'm so sorry about your retina! I had to bring my mom to the ER a few weeks ago because she was having a vitrious detachment, but the doctor was afraid that it might be a retina detachment. I'm so glad that you're okay and can now focus on Christmas!

I am so sorry about your eye surgery! I really hope it is fixed for good this time! We don't decorate the outside of our house very much because it's just so cold to put them up and take them down- I am so jealous of the warm weather you have while decorating! The german market sounds like a great time- I will forever be amazed at places where you can walk around with a drink in your hand.

I'm so sorry about your eye surgery! I'm glad that everything is starting to get back to normal, and that at least you've been doing some other fun things lately too! The weather lately has been so bipolar lately! It's so crazy to think that I'll be in shorts on Saturday maybe and then sweaters on Sunday! Have a great weekend!

Oh gosh - that freaks me out - my eye is still having issues & I'm afraid an eye surgery is ahead for me... but you do make it seem like its something doable being back out enjoying life :) Glad you have a good doctor!!!
So close to Michael Jordan? That's super cool! I dont know much about sports but that even impresses me. Everyone knows Jordan ;)

Sounds like such a fun time! And I'm so jealous of the warner weather. I'm sorry about your eye. That's so scary. I'm glad you're doing better. Merry Christmas!

Hope you're recovering and feeling better!
I'm not a Hornets fan,but I do like that sweater. They make them for most professional teams, right?

Oh man I hope your DR is able to help heal the problem with your eye! My tree is still not decorated as well. I don't think I've ever procrastinated this much but hopefully it'll be done before the weekend is over.
